Retrowave is a musical genre that harnesses the inspiration and authenticity of 80's and early 90's music for today's generation, it synonymous with Synthwave.
Although Synthwave was still being produced long after the decade of the 80's, it did not receive a widespread resurgence untill late 2009, when a small underground music scene of Electronic Dance Music producers picked up the genre, spurring it into a new "electro renaissance" of music to be heard by a new generation of listeners and nostalgic reminiscers.
This is further factored by the release of the neo-noir movie DRIVE (2011) and subsequent music label "NewRetrowave" being created.
